Based in Redwood City, California, Electronic Arts (EA) was formed in 1982 by Trip Hawkins, and was originally known as Amazin' Software.
To date, EA has produced a slew of hugely popular and financially successful gaming franchises, including the likes of Madden, Need for Speed, PGA Tour, Medal of Honor, FIFA, Command & Conquer, and The Sims - to name but a few.
Often criticised for the churning of endless sequels and franchise extensions, the creatives at EA continue to give the gaming pubic what they want regardless, with more of the same seemingly being the most appealing aspect of modern gaming.
As a result, Electronic Arts is the largest third-party developer and publisher in the world.
