Osaka-based Capcom was founded in 1979 as Capsule Computers, before blending the the double barrel name into one easy to swallow title. Capcom exists as one of Japan's leading developers and publishers of videogames, and is also well known for its part in the evolution of coin-op arcade titles.
Capcom's first arcade title, Vulgus, was released in 1984, and classics such as the top-down fighter plane battler 1941 and 1942 swiftly followed.
In 1987, Capcom unleashed the full knuckle-busting fury of the Street Fighter series onto an unsuspecting public, and one of the most successful franchises - at home and in the arcade - was duly born.
Other massive titles coming from Capcom over the years include: Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Okami, Phoenix Wright, and many more.
