Santa Monica-based Activision was founded in 1979 and has since become a leading third-party publisher of computer and videogame software.
Some of the companies biggest ever gaming releases (and resultant series) include the likes of the classic Pitfall (1982), Quake (1996), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (1999), Call of Duty (2004), Ultimate Spider-Man (2005) and The Movies (2005) to name but a few.
Games currently in the production pipeline expected to hit retail during 2007 include: Call of Duty: Roads to Victory; Spider-Man 3; Transformers: The Game; and Shrek 3.
