It appears that a handful of new screens from the PlayStation Portable version of Test Drive Unlimited have swerved their way into cyberspace. The selection of screenshots don't reveal anything too drastically different to what's already known about the title (set for release on 23 February in Europe and nearly a month later on 17 April in the US). However, what is fairly obvious from everything we've seen of this portable version of the series is that developer Melbourne House has managed to squeeze an impressive amount onto the UMD format, making sure that this miniature version can stand proud next to its next-generation console counterparts.

Test Drive Unlimited is what you might call a role-playing racing game. You begin with nothing but a crummy motor, a handful of cash and, most importantly, the passion and vision to succeed. The game's world is an inch-by-inch re-creation of Oahu in Hawaii, complete with gleaming white sands, bustling urban areas, and palm trees as far as the eye can see. Using your onboard global positioning system, players are able to explore the island without ever fearing that they might lose their way, thus delivering the confidence to seek out new races and challenges. Leaving rivals for dust in the 240 available events will certainly take a bit of time, while the money earned along the way can be used to upgrade or trade in motors and even purchase property on the island.
