Putting the words 'Sonic the hedgehog' and 'role-playing game' together still feels a little odd, and we're still not sure if it's something we're really, truly looking forward to. Still, the developer is BioWare so there's an undeniably mild tingle of excitement fluttering around our gaming nethers. The DS game has officially been stamped with the title 'Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood' - not too sure about the title either, but never mind - and we have a a handful of screenshots to pique your interest/send you running. It looks pretty enough and some of the pictures suggest Final Fantasy style combat with hints of Sonic's continuing ring fetish. Which is a good thing. Isn't it?

The game is due on the Nintendo DS in 2008.
