"Woah, didn't mean to shoot! Thought you were hiding the new expansion pack..."
Generally speaking, videogame release dates are so changeable that they're usually not worth the paper (or screen) they’re written on. As a rule of thumb, the further into the future a game is set to hit retail shelves, the more the exact day it arrives is likely to change. So when Ubisoft announced just last month that an expansion for Rainbow Six: Vegas on the Microsoft Xbox 360 was to be released at the end of March, many a gamer duly waited with baited breath for its arrival.
According to CVG, Ubisoft has confirmed, disappointingly, that the Vegas add-on "Player's Pack Red Edition" is still in development. Unwilling to commit to an exact date (presumably in case of any more unforeseen setbacks), all the publisher could confirm was that it would, "communicate on its new release date as soon as we can". However, Ubisoft did reveal that the expansion pack's planned content has not changed since it was first revealed, so that's something, we suppose.
Player's Pack Red Edition includes three brand spanking new multiplayer maps, two 'relit' multiplayer maps, and two unseen multiplayer game modes.
Player's Red Pack Edition's two new game modes are Assassination and Total Conquest. The first tasks an attacking team to exterminate a VIP, while the other team must defend and escort said VIP to an extraction zone. Not the most original of concepts perhaps, but hey, it's more Rainbow Six! Total Conquest, on the other hand, challenges two teams to activate and maintain grounding on a set of Mobile Radar Installations across the map. The victorious team is that which is able to stand its ground for the set amount of time.
The Border Town and Killhouse maps have been, "relit for a new gameplay experience," while the following trio of locations are brand new:
Doscala Restaurant: This well-known Italian restaurant is located in the heart of Las Vegas, near the famous Fremont Street.
Marshalling Yard: This century-old service yard is situated in the centre of an industrial district. Still active today, it is primarily used to store cars, but is also equipped with cleaning and maintenance facilities.
Roof: A Coffee Factory has been overrun in the continuing gang violence that is wreaking havoc in this border town. The strategic positioning of the factory makes it highly desirable to control, making it a focal point of the violence.
That's right, Ubi. Take as much time as you like, we don't mind waiting...
