PSN Tickets, helping tempt more gamers into purchasing micro-transactions!
PlayStation 3 owners without debit or credit cards will be pleased today after news that the console manufacturer is releasing pre-pay points cards for use with the PlayStation Network. Morw pointedly, a press release from Sony Japan that was picked up by GameBrink reveals that the cards will be available throughout the region in over 52,000 locations and in four seperate rate levels.
The cards or 'PlayStation Network Tickets' as they are officially known will be available in denominations of 1000 YEN, 3000 YEN and 10,000 YEN (approx $8.50, $25.00 and $83.00 respectively). They will most likely work much in the same way as the Nintendo Wii's Points Cards, housing the unique code to enter at the PlayStation Store in order to unlock useable credit.
Japanese consumers will be able to get their hands on the new product this coming June, although there is no word on a North American release - or on the cards arriving in any other territory for that matter. Owners of Sony’s next-generation console can use the PlayStation Store to download new games, movie trailers and other exclusive content.
