LittleBigPlanet = BigBigSales?
Analyst Michael Pachter has claimed that community-based platformer LittleBigPlanet could prove a big system-seller for Sony’s PlayStation 3 when it appears next year. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Pachter couldn’t stop talking about Media Molecule’s cutesy, customisable platform title, suggesting that it could be a significant catalyst for hardware sales.
"After seeing LittleBigPlanet at TGS, I believe it could be a console mover," cooed Wedbush Morgan’s finest. "The game is really innovative, and I think it adds a family element that is so far missing from both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. If they can accompany that game's launch with a price cut (or a lower priced SKU), I think we'll see a spike in sales."
Completely with you on the family element bit, MP - this blogger recently went shopping for his nine-year-old, PlayStation 3-owning cousin, and let’s be frank: there’s just nothing right now for that age group. That extends to the 360 as well; even Viva Piñata is deceptively tricky for young minds. Roll on the family-friendly titles.
