Lair: not quite the benchmark for SIXAXIS controls itself.
Factor 5's much-anticipated-but-kinda-fell-short-of-expectations dragon adventure, Lair, for the Sony PlayStation 3 was, amongst other problems, criticised for unresponsive SIXAXIS motion control and buggy environments, but that hasn't stopped the firm's president Julian Eggebrecht telling others how things should be done.
In an interview with Games Radar in which the main topic of conversation was the discussion of the possibility of a new Rogue Squadron title, Eggebrecht offered his two cents on motion control, and was only too pleased to mouth off Incognito's use of the SIXAXIS:
"Warhawk's controls are... eurgh!," Eggebrecht said with a shudder. He explained that while motion sensing was perfect to convey the feeling of leading a dragon into battle in Lair (has he tried turning sharply in the game yet?), he believes the SIXAXIS' technology shouldn't just be used for the sake of it.
"I see motion-sensing as a complimentary, additional new step in terms of controls and where it fits you should use it and where it doesn't fit, don't force it. Please don't force it," he added.
The words 'pot,' 'kettle,' and 'black' spring to mind.
