Prepare to meet Gauntlet's motley crew!
PlayStation 3 fans gagging for some retro action will be pleased by the news that Gauntlet II is set to unleash its mix of fantasy and action onto the console this Thursday via the PlayStation Network download service.
Gauntlet II is the coin-op sequel to the original title, released just a year afterwards in 1986 by Atari. The game puts players in the role of fantastical characters such as Thor, a Warrior, or a Wizard, and they must battle their way through a dungeon to collect food and treasure, whilst solving puzzles, avoiding traps, and defeating enemies.
One of the series' most memorable features was its narrator, who often makes his thoughts known throughout the adventure with ditties such as "Don't shoot food!" and, "I've never seen such bravery!" Wise words, indeed.
The PlayStation 3 version of Gauntlet II will feature play for up to four players, one hundred levels, leader boards, and full online functions. It'll cost $4.99 USD to keep, but so far will only be available in North America.
