Ratchet & Clank clunk onto the PSP.
After a successful romp on the PlayStation 2, platforming duo Ratchet & Clank are hopping their way onto the PlayStation Portable in an all-new adventure, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is the first project to be developed by California-based High Impact Games.
The title promises a return to the multi-million selling series' roots, with a ton of weaponry, catchy storyline, and online gaming to boot. Wireless multiplayer options (available directly between players in close proximity or between those around the world) are set to include classic modes such as Death Match, Team Death Match and Capture the Flag. However, Iron Lombax, a new feature, promises objective-based co-operative play as well.
"We are excited to be bringing one of the most successful franchises on the PlayStation 2 to the PSP and provide millions of PlayStation fans with a high quality, on-the-go Ratchet & Clank experience," said Frank Simon, producer of product development at SCEA. "Although Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is completely new, it stays true to what has made the franchise a huge success - the unique weapons, humor, characters, style and engaging storyline," he added.
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters takes place after the events of Ratchet: Deadlocked where players will find Ratchet and Clank taking a much-needed vacation. While relaxing, they are approached by a young girl named Luna who is working on a school report based on heroes. Soon afterwards, Luna is kidnapped by a group of mysterious robots. Ratchet and Clank duly set out to rescue her only to discover a much bigger galactic adventure than they'd anticipated
High Impact promises a wealth of new and familiar gadgetry for the PSP-exclusive title. As well as additions such as the Bee Mine Glove, Acid Bomb, Laser Tracer, weapons such as the Sprout-o-Matic and the Blitz Cannon will also be on offer.
