Cue sarcastic cheers.
Well worthy of the title 'most delayed PlayStation Portable game ever' is Gran Turismo 4 Mobile, a handheld version of the massively successful racer that was initially 'announced' for the PSP around the same time as the sexy little console - along with GT-specific box art and UMD mock-ups.
According to The Magic Box however, Gran Turismo 4 Mobile now has a vague release date, which equates to some time: "before the appearance of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on the PlayStation 3." At least, that's what the series' creator Kazunori Yamauchi told Best Car magazine in a recent interview. And given that GT 5 has a sketchy release date of anywhere between March and Christmas of next year, according to PocketGamer, fans of the racing franchise still have a long wait on their hands.
Naturally, GT 4 Mobile was planned in order to show off the power of the PSP upon its release, but given that we're nearly three years into the console's lifespan, what impact it will have on a handheld market now dominated by the technologically inferior Nintendo DS is anyone's guess.
We'll bring you more on GT 4 Mobile as and when we get it. Going by developer Polyphony Digital's track record, that means some time around space year 3044.
