Red Orchestra marches onward!
Tripwire Interactive has just released a new downloadable update for its scarily realistic multiplayer PC shooter, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 today. The new pack includes an additional ten maps to explore (and, yeah, kill lots of people on) and a lot, lot more.
The new levels were all winning entries in Tripwire's Custom Map Competition and include the likes of Smolensk Stalemate (featuring "perfectly balanced to-and-fro infantry combat through ruined villages and trenches in August 1993); Leningrad ("close-quarters infantry fighting in the ruined streets of the city, above them in bombed-out buildings and deep beneath them in the sewers," and Black Day July ("One of the very best for tank combat fans, set in the rolling countryside around Prokhorovka as German and Russian armour clash en mass during the Battle of Kursk").
Other enhancements include an increased multiplayer count, meaning that battles can now include over 50 players, up from the previous limit of 32, a new soundtrack from composer Matthew Burns and other minor tweaks suggested by the game's loyal community of players.
Steam will automatically download the new features for those who already own the game, and also give them a 20 percent discount off the retail price of $19.95 if they decide to purchase the new content by July 11.
If you didn't think Red Orchestra could get much more serious, it probably just did.
