Imagine, build, war!
Nearly a month after its release on the PC, Electronic Arts has finally made customisable multiplayer and skirmish map builder for players of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars available for download. The additional file might be less than 10MB in size, but the 100-page instruction manual that comes lumped with it will, we imagine, take a fair bit longer to plough through.
In response to questions over why the newly released tools weren't made available at Tiberium Wars' first day at retail, EA explained:
"We made various changes to previous versions of Worldbuilder during development of Command & Conquer 3, which needed to be documented."
The leading third-party developer and publisher went on to say that, "Furthermore, references to previous projects and old functionality needed to be removed both from the software and the documentation. As a result, we wished to take extra time to best prepare Worldbuilder for its intended audience"
So there you have it. Still, a month wasn't too long to wait... was it? In related news, as we reported last week, Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars will also arrive on the Microsoft Xbox 360 next month.
