"There are no strings on me!"
Don’t you hate it when interviews come back to bite you in the derriere months later? Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime must do, and he may well live to regret stating that first-party Wii games such as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Super Mario Galaxy would fill that post-Christmas slump release slot. Big Reggie spoke to Newsweek back in October this year and stated that the Wii wouldn’t suffer the post-release games drought that plagued the Nintendo GameCube.
Reggie also stated that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption would be released for the Wii in early 2007 with Super Mario Galaxy arriving not far behind. However, it now seems that Super Mario Galaxy is set for a ‘late 2007’ release and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will make an appearance around the middle of 2007, following the appearance of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves in January, and Mario Party 8 in March.
Broken promises do not breed consumer trust, Reggie, try to stay ahead of the game—as it were.
