Wii - Flat out like a lizard drinking
The Wii launch in Australia appears to have gone down with more of a whimper than a bang. Reports are filtering through that many retail stores didn’t even bother to open at midnight for the launch, and those that did, did so without fanfare.
Despite queues in both the US and Japan for the launch of the Wii, Australia seems to have been more interested in sleeping than gaming, but they’re not alone because despite what reports might have you believe, a lot of high street GAME stores in the UK aren’t opening at midnight either, and some aren’t even expecting queues when if do.
The Nintendo Wii is expected to be the fastest selling console in the land downunder, out performing the achievements of the Xbox 360 just a year ago, when Microsoft’s machine blitzed previous records for a console launch. The numbers may be small, but let’s not forget, despite Australia’s massive geographical size, it’s tiny in terms of population compared to the likes of the US.
