Something tells us this still won't be the last we hear of Wii-njuries
Other than a couple of Wii Remote strap re-designs, it seems like the only firm not in on taking advantage of the panic caused by the injuries and accidents reported by butter-fingered Wii owners is Nintendo itself - until now.
Say hello to the Wii Remote Jacket, a slip-on silicone case for the device that, rather than concentrating on giving the player extra grip, instead provides a cushioning for the controller if it, for example, is dropped on the floor or flung full whack into your grandmother's face.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “Many electronics manufacturers provide similar protective covers for products like cell phones, PDAs and MP3 players.”
The new sleeves will ship with all new Wii hardware, Wii Play and they'll also be available to purchase separately. If you already own a Wii, Nintendo'll provide you them free of charge via Wii.com.
