Investigating? Is it really THAT difficult to make a stronger strap?
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has informed a Tokyo Foreign Correspondents Club that Nintendo is well aware of the current Wiimote snapping strap issues popping up on the web, and the company is dealing with the problem as we type.
Iwata stated: “We are investigating [the Wiimote strap issue]. Some people are getting a lot more excited than we had expected. We need to better communicate to people how to deal with Wii as a new form of entertainment”
No offence to those who have experienced snapping strap problems, but the best advice you could probably follow would be ‘get a grip’ (yukyuk—Ed), and not just in the literal sense.
The Wii instructions clearly warn repeatedly against the need to flail about like a complete idiot; they even direct you to take a break now and again. Is it really that difficult to not become an over-energetic lunatic and break windows, overhead lights, and television sets? Apparently so.
You can easily play Wii Tennis with gusto and not have the remote fly from your hand; all of this macho swinging of remotes at 100mph really isn’t necessary in order to feel the thrill of actually using it as intended—as a racquet, bat, bowling ball, or whatever it may be as per the game. Just remember to wipe off your sweaty and clammy hands every now and then and you’ll be fine.
There’s really nothing for Nintendo to investigate here, apart from it needs to release stronger nylon safety straps than those presently in use. Let’s move on, shall we?
