Grandad ruled at bowling! Not bad at tennis either.
As you’re all no-doubt aware, the Nintendo Wii is aimed at everyone, there’s none of this silly male-oriented 18-34 marketing going on with the Wii, because, according to Nintendo, the Wii is accessible to everyone.
Okay, so you may be dubious, can the Wii touch all generations (see what we did there?)? Apparently, folks, we at GamerSquad can tell you that, it can. In this writer’s house over the Xmas period were four generations, two generations of gamers and two of non-gamers. So, what do you think happened when we set up the Wii?
Grandkids played, moms played, grandparents played and, yes, even great granddad got up and played—and he (and we) all had an absolute blast. Seeing his face when he rolled a strike in Wii bowling was an absolute gaming classic, not to mention his swift returns in Wii tennis.
Yes, it’s only one isolated example, but it’s interesting to note that a man in his mid- eighties with no idea of what a Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, or any other gaming device actually is, was able to actively play and enjoy the Wii—and rave about it afterwards—which, in our eyes, marks the Wii as a truly generational console.
