"Coma-a fly with a-me, come-a fly, let's-a fly awaaay!"

While the prospect of a gorgeously expensive summer holiday in some exotic location is always something to look forward to in life, having to waste hour upon hour fighting against the never-ending tide of boredom that only airport departure lounges can inspire is often the real price we have to pay.

Well, twiddling your thumbs as the clock ticks by and irate overbooked passengers scream at beleaguered desk attendants just got a whole lot more appealing thanks to Delta Air Lines and Nintendo.

More specifically, Delta and Nintendo are teaming up to provide technophile travellers equipped with a Nintendo DS with access to free downloadable interactive videogame demos in order to help them pass the time.

The new service, which will be introduced at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, will see four DS Download Stations located in Delta Terminals 2 and 3, all of which will be able to swiftly and wirelessly transmit temporary demo versions of popular Nintendo DS games directly to consoles positioned within a radius of just a few feet.

Game demos included for download through the Download Stations include Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, Elite Beat Agents, Cooking Mama, and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend. Further demos are expected to be added periodically.

Other Delta terminals located at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport will also be privy to the DS Download Station service.

"Partnering with Delta builds on Nintendo’s goal to expand the world of video games to new audiences," commented George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior VP of marketing and corporate communications. "Because people typically have a lot of downtime, airports are ideal places for young people and old to try out free new game experiences and see what they like."

Nintendo are tapping into a varied market of sitting ducks with this deal. Don't know if it's a permanent fixture, but it certainly can't do any harm. Although, it's not as if the DS' sales needed an extra boost as it is! =)

I'd totally use this. i HATE the boredom of airports. Here's hoping that other airports around the world get similar download stations, maybe Sony will introduce PSP ones? They're good at copying stuff.
