Take-off with the Nintendo Wii Air...Konami “considering” western relea...

It's party time, but only if you love Nintendo.

If you’re a Nintendo fan living in the United States, then you’ll be glad to know that this week’s new release line-up seems to have been tailored exclusively for you.

Yep, if you’re armed with either a DS or a Wii (or both) then this week there’s likely something fresh on the retail shelves to pique your gaming interest. For everyone else – be you a Microsoft or Sony fan – there’s still scant little on offer as the summer weeks continue to drag on.

That said, Nintendo quantity does not necessarily mean Nintendo quality, and this week’s new DS arrivals include the likes of Bratz Ponyz, Drake & Josh: Talent Showdown, Picross, Glory Days 2, Pet Alien, and Spelling Challenges and More!. Not exactly a list that will inspire a retail stampede. On the Wii front, gamers with cash to burn can grab Mario Strikers Charged or Drop Off.

The remaining North American titles are distinctly PC-based (not a single Xbox 360 or PS3 title hits the line-up this week), and take the form of serial ‘slipper’ Ride! Carnival Tycoon, along with Attack on Pearl Harbor, and Combat Mission: Shock Force.

On the other side of the Atlantic, European gamers can look forward to finally getting their mitts on Mario Party 8 for the Nintendo Wii, along with MotoGP 07 for the Xbox 360, Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm on the PS2, and Silverfall for the PSP.

The good news is, in terms of impending “Game of the Year” candidates, that Irrational Games’ submerged Utopia-gone-mad first-person shooter BioShock is on the cards for a late August release… so that’s something to actually get excited about.
