Snake didn't take kindly to jokes about Werther's Originals.
Hideo Kojima has finally shown off playable footage of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to the world. Attendees at a Tokyo event staged to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid series were treated to a 15-minute playthrough of the PlayStation 3 exclusive, conducted by Kojima himself, which you can view in full by hitting the jump below.
It goes without saying that the game is looking absolutely dazzling, though as with all the Metal Gear titles, there’s much more than mere eye candy to gawp at. Kojima’s walkthrough featured many of the new tricks and items available to Snake (including the quite excellent OctoCamo), a selection of the old man’s new moves, and (typically for a Kojima game) a sprinkling of light-hearted, witty moments - Snake disguising himself as a statue, the return of the "men’s magazines", and Snake attacking soldiers by rolling at them in an empty oil drum (note the amusing after-effects of this move) are just some of the highlights.
There’s an appearance from MG Mk. II as well, the tiny robot developed by Otacon that appeared in the very first trailer for the game, as seen at E3 2006. In his walkthrough, Kojima demonstrates how the MG Mk. II (which Snake cutely controls on-screen with a PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS) can be used for reconnaissance.
But there’s so much more to see that we haven't mentioned, so get viewing!
