It's the FUTURE of gaming, we tells ya!
You may remember that some critics accused Sony of nicking the idea of a motion-sensing input for their PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS controller after the unveiling of the Nintendo Wii at E3 in 2006.
Sony denied the allegations, but whether you like it or not, waving your arm like a loon or simply rocking your hands from one side to the other with a Wii Remote in hand has taken off in a big way since the launch of Nintendo’s little white console late last year.
Not one to miss a trick (and hoping to capitalise on the PlayStation 2's humongous user base), third-party peripheral maker Sunflex-Europe has revealed the clichéd-futuristic-sounding 'Zero-G Motion Controller' for use with the ageing machine. The technology bestows players with the ability to twist and turn the Dual Shock-alike by way of replacement of the left analogue stick, thus providing "intuitive steering and movement."
The product (due for launch in October) will be officially unveiled at the Leipzig Games Convention next week. GamerSquad recommends getting yourself down to the Sunflex-Europe booth in the Business Center (Hall 1, D74) before the inevitable heaving crowd gathers.
This particular motion controller reminds us of Talismoon's Xbox 360 Tilt Board, which we reported on a month or two back. Forgive us if we're out of touch, but we haven't heard too many stories outlining millions of Xbox 360 owners ditching their traditional controllers in favour of Talismoon's innovation.
All of which leaves only one thing left to say... Good luck, Sunflex.
