Absolute genius, no?
GamerSquad has reported on a variety of strange and imaginative homebrew gaming inventions in recent times, from the LEGO Guitar Hero controller to the NES PC mouse and the DIY Wii Balance Board, but one Benjamin Heckendorn's latest build has to be up there with the very best of them.
The clever guy has managed to fuse together an Atari 2600 and a Nintendo Entertainment System to create the NEStari, a portable device that plays cartridge games from either console. He's even slapped on a 3.5-inch colour LCD screen to produce one hell of a weird-looking (but equally brilliant) miniature gaming console.
Full photo documentation and written explanation of how Mr. Heckendorn pulled off this magical feat of engineering is accessible via his Web site.
However, best of all is that he is putting the NEStari up for sale. There's no set price for the piece of handheld genius - the person who e-mails him with the best offer within the next couple of weeks duly bags it.
Just think of the looks of admiration you'd attract when playing with this baby out in public. Oh, yeeeah.
