Newell: Not aftaid to speak his mind. (Credit: Games-Digest) Gabe Newell, Valve Software’s founder and managing director has today launched an attack on the Sony PlayStation 3, calling the machine a "waste of everybody's time," reports CVG.
"Investing in the Cell, investing in the SPE gives you no long-term benefits. There's nothing there that you're going to apply to anything else. You're not going to gain anything except a hatred of the architecture they've created", Newell told Edge magazine. "I don't think they're going to make money off their box. I don't think it's a good solution," he added.
Despite the harsh words, he did admit that he thought PS3 owners who buy The Orange Box will be happy with the finished product, even if will have been hard for EA (who took care of said build) to "get it to the same standard as the 360 and PC versions."
This isn't the first time Newell has spoken his mind about the games industry. Nope, he's previously claimed that the Xbox 360 makes his life worse; that the PS3 is a total disaster, and that developers need to re-think their approach to games.
Something tells us it won't be the last either.
