Slimmer, but not smaller.
We reported yesterday about Sony's plans to release a new model of the PlayStation 2 - one perhaps even smaller than the current build and retailing for under $100 USD. Today Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has falsified both of these claims, reports Savingprogress.
The new PlayStation 2 is the same size as the current model, but is lighter and will house an AC adapter. It'll retail in Japan for 16,000 Yen (about $140 USD) and arrive on November 22 in two colours - "Ceramic White" and "Satin Silver."
Sony says that “[while] inheriting the functions of the current PlayStation 2, the internal design architecture of the new system has been completely overhauled,” and that it “will have a built-in AC adapter, further improving users’ convenience to enjoy various entertainment contents anywhere at home.”
Sony has also announced that the new PS2 will arrive in Europe in the new year.
