Good to see the under-appreciated Tim 'Psychonauts' Schafer getting back into the fray. Sierra have just announced his latest title, Brutal Legend.  The game will recount the tale of rock 'n' roll roadie Eddie Riggs, who is 'offered the wealth and knowledge of an ancient kingdom in exchange for assembling a legion of his own design.'

Quite how this will all play out remains to be seen, but it all sounds gloriously excessive. The games's website promises that you will be able to wander through an open world born from the fires of heavy metal, perform face melting solos that actually melt faces and indulge in multiplayer action that will let you play guitar licks on your friends' graves. The voice and likeness of Jack Black (who else?) will feature heavily in the game, so expect everything to be cranked well past eleven.

Brutal Legend is due on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008.
