It's just like being a real rock star... minus the touring, roadies and fame.
A representative from developer Harmonix has confirmed that the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 versions of the much-anticipated Rock Band will take centre stage on North American store shelves on November 23, with a price tag of $169.99 USD. Meanwhile, the PS2 version, arriving slightly later on December 10 will be slightly cheaper at $159.99 USD.
Gamespot reports that the next-generation builds of Rock Band will contain the game, a wired drum kit and a microphone. The 360 version is set to include a wired Fender Stratocaster guitar controller and USB hub, whilst the PS3 version will instead include a wireless guitar, but lack said USB hub.
Rock Band will allow players to perform in virtual groups, using the microphone, lead and bass guitars provided. As well as a disc packed full of recognisable songs, downloadable content including The Who's 'Who's Next' and Metallica's 'One' is already confirmed to be made available at a later date.
Rock Band is Harmonix's first project since leaving Guitar Hero behind after being purchased by MTV Networks. Ironically, GH III: Legends of Rock will be the title's biggest rival this Christmas.
