Take all that padding off and try rugby on for size - you big wimp!
The new release list issued last week – directly prior to the start of the E3 Media & Business Summit – was perhaps the worst GamerSquad has seen in a long while, although certainly indicative of the shifting industry focus to the high profile events in Santa Monica.
So, will the first post-E3 release listings prove to be an upturn now that the fevered hype and hyperbole has subsided as Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and… um… WiiFit make their way into distance? Somehow we doubt it, the big games are still quite a way off. But at least GamerSquad lives in hope that some plucky publisher and developer can come up with something refreshing to help us all see out the rest of the barren summer.
This week, folks in North America can grab a slice of varied sports-based releases, with the likes of NCAA Football 08 arriving on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox, and PS2, while Hot Shots Tennis and Rugby 08 smash onto the PS2, and Smash Court Tennis 3 serves up some fun on the PSP. Oh, and there’s also The Darkness for the PlayStation 3… though it may well slip.
Meanwhile, gamers over in Europe are still suffering somewhat of a gaming drought and once again only have a handful of new titles to choose from – those being Brian Lara International Cricket on the PC, Transformers: The Game on Nintendo DS, and (if it doesn’t slip) Two Worlds for the Xbox 360.
