"Can't we just sit down and talk about this?"

Atari Games has today announced that its latest smash-em-up, Godzilla: Unleashed, will now be making an appearance on the Sony PlayStation 2 as well as the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

Unleashed is a fighting game on a giant scale, featuring 'Zilla and more than 20 of the most recognisable monsters of all time. Set across the world in nine cities, it features destructible 3D environments, from tanks and other vehicles to puny buildings and soaring skyscrapers. As a treat, PS2 owners will be offered a bonus few characters to haul about the landscapes.

“Bringing Godzilla: Unleashed to the vast PlayStation 2 audience as well as the massive and growing Wii and DS fanbase is another feather in the cap of Atari’s growing publishing line up," reckons Atari. It also calls Unleashed a "must-have monster romp."

However, based on the periodical level reveals so far, GamerSquad isn't so sure. Other than an impressive scale and nice water effects, the title isn't looking amazing in the aesthetics department - and we don't imagine too many people expecting the deepest gameplay experience either.

Still, we'd love to be proven wrong.

Godzilla: Unleashed stomps into stores this autumn.
