Here's hoping Borderlands is borderline amaaazing.
Just yesterday Gearbox Software revealed that it was working on a next-generation sci-fi shooter titled Borderlands. Today 2K Games has announced that it will be publishing said game, and the first two screenshots have also been shown off. Oh, how they tease us.
The game will be released in late 2008 and is described as an "all new sci-fi franchise" that will include "near-endless variety in missions, environments, enemies, weapons, item dropping and character customisation." So not pushing the boat out at all. Don’t you just hate lazy programmers?
"Borderlands represents an important evolutionary leap in game design and technology,” enthused Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K Games. “By utilizing revolutionary new technology to create thousands of unique, randomly generated missions, weapons and situations, Borderlands will raise the bar for next-gen action games.”
The 2K boss also explained how both it and Gearbox would be picking the very best bits of the sci-fi videogame genre and packing them into Borderlands to take it "way past the next level."
GamerSquad reckons he was also tempted to use other business jargon such as "best of the breed," "cutting edge," and "out of the box," but sadly he didn't.
Borderlands will be released on the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and PC.
