"Turn 'em into Stroganoff, soldier!"
Activision has announced that it’s to invite 60,000 of its dearest gaming buddies to participate in the public beta of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, the upcoming multiplayer shooter for the PC. Players lucky enough to bag one of the lucky places will get to annihilate one another on one beta level, which is entitled "Sewer".
Said map "is part of ETQW's Pacific Campaign," the official Quake Wars Web site explains. "Set in Japan, the map revolves around a Strogg base hidden in, well, a sewer. It's an interesting mix of outdoor and indoor, vehicle and infantry combat, deployables and counter-deployables and good old-fashioned FPS combat." Ace.
An announcement on the site adds: "If you'd like to help us finish ETQW, we'd really appreciate your participation. If you want to just play a game for free you may find it a frustrating experience. This Public Beta is not the Demo – it's not the finished game, but an opportunity to get feedback from a large group of people while testing stability and performance on a wider range of hardware combinations."
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the follow-up to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, and set in the same science fiction universe as Quake II and Quake 4, with a back story serving as a prequel to Quake II. As yet, no release date for the beta has been announced. Be sure to keep your sights marked on GamerSquad for all the very latest!
