Eidos has today announced the next title in the popular Conflict series, subtitled Denied Ops. It was previously known under the working title of Crossfire but, as often is the case, a name change was thought to be in order.
Conflict: Denied Ops puts players in control of two anonymous US operatives whose job it is to accomplish dangerous missions where outward interference from American military action would be considered too dangerous. Eidos promises that the game will deliver large-scale Hollywood-style action sequences in real-world political hotspots in South America, Africa, and Russia.
GamerSquad wonders if Bruce Willis cameos, repeating his ‘surfing on the wing of a fighter jet’ as he does in Die Hard 4.0. It would be hilarious, if nothing else.
"Conflict: Denied Ops delivers what people want in an action game," said Matt Gorman, Director of Marketing at Eidos. "It's brutal, explosive, and easy to pick up and play yet still incorporates advanced co-op and environmental tactics."
Pivotal's new Puncture Technology is being utilised to relay a highly destructible environment, allowing the two comrades to blast through walls and faces to create new paths. The partnership between the pair of soliders is also touted as being seamless, with two-man tactics such as distraction and covering set to be included.
Conflict: Denied Ops is currently penned for a spring 2008 release on the Microsoft Xbox 360, PC and Sony PlayStation 3.
