"You know, I'm getting sick of your constant "I AM TUROK!" mocking.
Disney Interactive has today confirmed a date that gamers will be greeted with those three hallowed word - "I AM TUROK!" - on the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, in the latest dino-blasting first-person shooter being developed by Propaganda Games.
Turok’s first next-generation outing was originally penned for an autumn 2007 release, but its creators felt that a little more time was needed to touch up the experience, which is set some 200 years in the future.
It follows the story of Joseph Turok as he battles to defeat his old mentor Ronald Kane (the blighter's turned nasty, so he has). Travelling to set Kane straight the player is shot down, crash landing in a strange prehistoric world full of gigantic omnivorous beasts where you are the most desirable dish on the menu. Gulp.
The title is said to be a re-jig of the Nintendo 64 original and it's being built using Epic's Unreal Engine 3, and also includes a 16-player online multiplayer mode. We wonder whether Propaganda ever considered coating the environments in dense fog, as was the case with the Nintendo 64 versions - y'know, just for old time's sake.
Turok guns onto a console near you on February 05, 2008.
