"You liars! This is nothing like Buckeroo!" (Credit: jeff rivers) The videogaming industry is a lot about give and take. Gamers make heard what they want (endless Need For Speed games, more Mario Party, please!) and developers duly deliver. Or at least that's how it might better work in world where developers and publishers actually listened. Undeterred by a lack of public desperation for a certain type of title, developer Crave has announced that it is working on a game based on... bull riding. Not Shenmue 3, sorry.
The expertise of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) group has been called upon to make sure the virtual experience is as realistic as possible, also stating with glee that their favourite pastime is the fastest growing sport in North America - weirdly, the figures were not anchored by a respectable source.
Rob Dyer, President of Crave said: “The sport of bull riding has gained tremendous momentum over the past few years, attracting a huge international audience as well as heavy-duty corporate sponsors. We feel the skill and tenacity needed to stay on a bucking bull will translate perfectly to the videogame arena.”
A PBR spokesperson added that: “Crave has spent a lot of time getting to know the intricacies of the PBR brand and the sport of bull riding and they get it! We are looking forward to working with their creative team to translate the adrenaline rush and action inherent in our sport to the major console platforms.”
The title should be hitting stores on numerous platforms by autumn of this year. Are you ready cowboys and cowgirls? Yee-and indeed-ha!
