Not unlike Blackpool beach in May, minus the hobos and used syringe needles.
The second BlizzCon convention has just opened its doors to the news that World of Warcraft is getting another money-spinning expansion. Titled Wrath of the Lich King, the add-on will introduce players to the snowy northern continent of Northrend, confirming recent internet gossip to be correct.
Amongst other things, Wrath of the Lich King will raise the level cap from 70 to 80, introduce a new profession (Inscription), a new hero class (Death Knight), destructible buldings, new battlegrounds and arenas, and will also let players tweak vital character traits. Like hairstyles.
Blizzard showed off a brief, in-game trailer, though held back on a release date. Not that it truly matters when they release it, of course - previous expansion The Burning Crusade launched in January, bang in the middle of the post-Christmas lull, and promptly sold 2.7 million copies in one day. Madness.
Beyond Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard has promised a few new baubles for the world’s favourite MMORPG. New patch updates will include integrated voice communication, guild banks and a new 10-man instance, known as Zul'Aman.
Anyway, you can scroll down for the first Lich King screenies. Oh, and expect more BlizzCon-related goodness over the weekend. It’s already shaping up nicely.
