...and do it with embroidery? (Credit: kidmissile) You never have to look far to discover a piece of evidence suggesting that videogames are the cause of, or scapegoat for, terrible events throughout the world. Flick through the pages of our very own website and we're sure it won't be too long before you find someone bemoaning the effect of videogames in society (whether it be from the mouth of Tom Cruise, Jack Thompson, or anybody else). And until recently it wouldn't have been easy for gamers to retaliate and stand their ground, but the power of the Internet - and a little known site called YouTube - has changed all that.
Tired of the unfair representation of our beloved pastime, Australian machinima artist Thuyen Nguyen has created a short video entitled "The Most Powerful Person in the World" and dubbed it a "love letter to videogames." Made up of a collation of footage from videogames old and new, the four-minute film manages to convey an intelligent and thought provoking look at the impact of videogames from an angle nearly always overlooked by the mainstream press.
Featuring the likes of Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Super Mario, DDR, Pac-Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, Tetris, and Katamari Damacy, there's sure to be something in there that'll trigger a memory.
