The latest trailer for Electronic Arts' military shooter Army of Two opens with footage taken from the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. Shots of smoke bellowing from one of the twin towers are seen on a television in the background of its opening scene.

A press release for the title did state that Army of Two “will throw gamers into hot spots ripped from current day headlines,” so perhaps it isn't a surprise to see the biggest news story of the 21st century being utilised - it's a guaranteed attention grabber if nothing else.

While the events of 9/11 have already been used as the basis for a number of Hollywood movies (including World Trade Center and United 93), this is the first time that they have been worked into a videogame. It'll certainly be interested to see how the subject is received, particularly given the rough deal given to other videogames software featuring controversial or sensitive subjects.
