"It's Aggro-meter time!"
Electronic Arts has announced that third-person shooter Army of Two will be released on November 15 in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - exciting those players from either side of the pond with a passion for ridiculously massive shoulder pads.
Developed by EA's Montreal studio, Army of Two is built from the ground up to take advantage of co-operative gameplay. As a result, players will not only be able to drop in and out of local and Internet-based third-person battles, but also get involved in gameplay centred around the concept of two players battling together.
One practical example is that of the "Aggro-meter." Built around the concept of "aggro" in Massively Multiplayer Online Games, it focuses on the player causing the most mayhem, causing an enemy onslaught on the said individual whilst the other is left alone to scurry off to safety.
Similarly, "Overkill" which is a temporary bout of power that causes double damage, also allows the weaker player to perform stealthier kills or escape to shelter.
Players will also be able to form moves in tandem for climbing obstacles - although reports that one will be able to grab the other by the legs and swing them in circles to take out enemy crowds whilst the airborne participant shouts "Weeeee!" are currently unsubstantiated.
Sounds like it could be a pretty original experience from EA. Yep, you heard that right - "original" and "EA" in the same sentence.
